It was a great performance that impressed me very much, even though I do not belong to the Viking culture, and these five artists managed to make me feel part of their culture for a few minutes. That’s what motivated me to interview them.
This time I interview Jesper Hagelskær Paasch.
Some curious facts…
• Jesper is interested in Nordic mythology and can read and write runes, brew his own mead, and he also plays archaeologist in his spare time
• He played drums for Italy for Melodi Grand Prix, the last time it was held in Denmark
• Jesper can make a standing backward somersault. And he can stand on hands for 2 minutes
Hello. It is great to have you with us, please, tell us a little bit about yourself. Your background, education etc?
I’m a Viking to the bone. Im educated at The Danish National Academy of musical theater and have enjoyed to act and participate in many different parts of the creative genre. Singing, acting in theater, tv-series and movies, cartoon dubbing, speaks etc.
Who are your musical inspirations?
My taste in music is very broad so I don’t really have specific inspirations. It depends on my mood I would say. But the folk genre has a special place in my heart
I suppose you mean Danish folk music
No, the folk genre in general
Could you tell us about your experience at the Eurovision Song Contest?
My participation in ESC-18 was a blast! Meeting all the fantastic people, both in front of and behind the stage was amazing. Not a bad thing to find anywhere and standing in front of that enormous crowd is something I will never forget!
You are an actor, a dancer, and a singer, what do each one of these aspects bring you?
Acting gives me new ways to think of life. It gives me permission to be another person that you could only dream of being a person you would never wish to be or become
Dancing gives me joy and pure happiness. Nothing else. I´m not that good. But I enjoy it. And that’s the most important part I think 😉
Singing and songwriting give me an opportunity to express myself in another way. It´s beautiful and poetic to sing. I love it!
Everybody needs a time out. What do you do in your free time?
I´m a father for my son. That´s the most important job I have. Then I write songs, do Viking stuff (cooking over a fire, building in the woods, brewing meed)
What are your future plans? Your vision for the coming years.
I hope to have a year or so I can write music and have time for more screen acting
How can people find you and follow you online?
People can follow me on Instagram @jesperpaasch
One social media allows me to concentrate on making better content in just one place. A youtube channel might come in the future
AgoraKizomba magazine is about Afro-Latin rhythms, have you ever seen kizomba dance? what do you think about this kind of music and dance?
Yes, I have seen many videos of kizomba. Its beautiful, intense and intimate. I have tried it once 🙂 And yes! I loved it!
Finally, I’m sending you some links to Afro-Latin music and dance videos, can you tell us about your impressions?
