There are several differences between kizomba, urban kiz and kizomba fusion and I will give you Four noticeable differences between these three dance styles.

1. Closeness to the Torso when Dancing

Kizomba: The dancers are totally embraced and the contact is complete (Legs, Hip and Torso)

Urbankiz (Urban Kizomba, French Kizomba, Kizomba 2.0): Urbankiz is danced more separately, most of the contact between the couple is for the purpose of making blockages with their feet.

Kizomba Fusion: It’s known as modern kizomba, the contact that exists in Kizomba is maintained and sometimes can exist separation to mark some figures.

2. Guide the Girl

Kizomba: She is guided mainly by the torso, and is accompanied by the boy’s hip, legs and right arm.

Urbankiz: Being a more separate dance, the guide is mainly with the boy’s right arm

Kizomba Fusion: Keeps the essence of Kizomba

3. Figures and Movements

Kizomba: It is a circular dance, the figures are closed, there are very few of them that are open figures.

Urbaniz: It is a linear dance, the figures are open, it is focused more to the corporal movement and the way the dancers interpret it (mirror type).

Kizomba Fusion: The dance is linear and circular, prevails the connection that exists in Kizomba

4. Footprint or Weight Support

Kizomba: Being an African dance, the way of stepping on the ground is complete, the girl has to support the sole of her feet completely on the ground (Note: she dances barefoot or with low shoes, without heel).

Urbaniz: Generally this dance is supported on the tips of the feet (depending on the figures). We should not lean on the toes, we should simply have the knees relaxed. When you put your weight on your toes, you should keep in mind that your body weight should be on your axis (center), not in front of it or behind it.

Kizomba Fusion: The way of stepping on the ground is complete and you should feel the sensation of floating and / or walking in the air (without gravity)
